The Groove Lab
The Groove Lab at Chelsea is a fully equipped Sonic Solutions mastering facility that caters to a wide spectrum of music. The Sonic Solutions system is used at nearly all major mastering studios, recording studios, and CD plants around the world. This system creates today's highest-quality audio productions. Engineers at the Lab can make edits that would be impossible with other systemsthousands of sample-accurate edits can be made, each with its own totally unique crossfade, resulting in transparent sound quality. Real-time sample rate conversion on input, Varispeed playback, and TimeTwist give us more options and more control.
The Groove Lab sets extremely high goals in its quest for excellence. This quest is not only to attain the perfect electronic signal path, but also to make that path musically pleasing. Our goal is to make each project sound as good as possible, using the tools at our disposal.
Equipment at the Lab consists of the following: Sonic Solutions Ultra Sonic DSP digital workstation, A/D & D/A conversion is done by Wadia Digital utilizing the Ultra Analog 20 bit processing chip, Valley 730 Dynamap for dynamics processing, Waves L2 Ultramaximizer, Manley Massive Passive Equalizer, Manley Varible MU Compressor, JVC & Fostex Professional DAT players, monitors by B&W, and amplification by Bryston.
Meters do not dictate how things progress in the Lab, rather it is what we hear and feel. We never forget what's most importantthe music.
